Easter’s a day of peace for me, Lord,
a day of assurance, consolation and hope
– but I’m a believer, I have faith in you…
I believe in your divinity,
I believe in your humanity,
I believe in you the two are bound as one:
my God with human skin redeems my flesh;
your Spirit lifts my soul from untold depths;
you, the Light no night can quench,
shine bright upon on my daily path…
But, how to share my faith, Lord,
with so many who
don’t see what I see,
don’t hear what I hear,
don’t find what I find in my heart and soul,
in my thoughts, in my hope and my prayer?
What evidence will I offer
to share the faith I hold
as certain, real and true?
I shall point to the flowers,
to how the flowers dance with joy
on rising from the earth, their tomb,
where once they slept as seeds
’til you, Lord, called them forth
to rise and bloom in glory…
May their beauty and their grace, Lord,
lead all to trust the One who gardens souls
and teaches us to dance with life,
with life that sings for joy
for life that has no end…
As stunning as all blooms may be,
none surpass the glory
of your rising from the dead,
rising up from earth that three days
held your body bound…
And your promise, Lord,
to raise us up with you
when we leave what holds us bound
for the freedom of the peace and joy
of life with you forever…
Protect us, Lord, while we’re awake
and watch over us while we sleep
that awake, we might keep watch with you
and asleep, rest in your peace…
Unless a grain of wheat falls to the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit…
