If you say, »I love God, »
but you hate your neighbor
– you’re a liar.
For if you don’t love your neighbor
For if you don’t love your neighbor
whom you have seen
you can’t love God
you can’t love God
whom you haven’t seen.
It is a fearful thing
to hate
whom God loves…
Remind us, Lord,
especially this summer,
to love one another
as you love us…
Remind us, Lord,
as November draws near,
that nothing exempts us
from such great love…
Remind us, Lord,
when hostilities mount,
how you call us to love
those who don’t love us…
Remind us, Lord,
in campaign and debate,
that above any other
your word is law…
And remind us, Lord,
that in every season,
only you can save us
and bring us peace…
Protect us, Lord while we’re awake
and watch over us while we sleep
that awake, we might keep watch with you
and asleep, rest in your peace…
