NIGHT PRAYER: Monday 9/12

When I’m out for a walk in Georgetown, CO
and I always stop to take in the beauty, the peace
and the soft calming rush of the waters just below…
(Click in the lower right corner for a larger image!)

Whether I walk that route or not, Lord,
Clear Creek flows from west to east,
always ready to charm and cheer…
Whether I pause on the bridge or walk on by,
the waters stream with spirit and grace,
        coursing, faithfully, on their way…
Whether I come in tears or filled with joy
the creek knows well what my soul needs
to lighten, bless and heal my heart…
And wherever I may be, Lord,
    – just like Clear Creek and even more –
you’re always there, waiting for me,
waiting with patience ’til I arrive,
waiting with love to welcome me,
waiting with mercy to pardon me,
waiting with grace to comfort me,
waiting with  wisdom to counsel me,
waiting with strength to lift me up,
waiting with peace that streams and flows
beneath my feet and on all sides
            from your heart into mine…
Protect me, Lord, while I’m awake
and watch over me while I sleep
that awake, I might keep watch with you
and asleep rest in your peace…

As the deer longs for running streams,
so I long, so I long, so I long for you.

1) A-thirst my soul for you the God who is my life!

When shall I see, when shall I see,
see the face of God?

2) Echoes meet as deep is calling unto deep,
over my head, all your mighty waters,
sweeping over me.

3) Continually the foe delights in taunting me:
“Where is God, where is your God?”
Where, O where, are you?

4) Defend me, God, send forth your light and your truth,
they will lead me to your holy mountain,
to your dwelling place.

5) Then I shall go unto the altar of my God,
praising you, so my joy and gladness
I shall praise your name.
