NIGHT PRAYER: Saturday 8/10

NIGHT PRAYER: Saturday 8/10

I just found out, Lord,
yes, it seems I was too lazy
    to have discovered this earlier…
I think I probably celebrate « lazy day »
much more often than I should
but the info on National Lazy Day
cuts me a little slack:

While often frowned upon,
    laziness can have surprising benefits:
Helps prevent burnout
    by allowing time for rest and rejuvenation;
Can lead to improved memory and decreased stress;
Activates the brain’s default mode network (DMN),
    promoting creativity and deep thinking;
Allows for energy conservation,
which can be redirected to important tasks later.
So I’ll pray, Lord,
    that you redeem my laziness
    by healing my burnout
    and refreshing my spirit
    for what may come next…
And I pray you’ll use my lazy spells
    to ease my distress,
    to comfort and calm me
    and reboot my failing memory…
And I pray you’ll use my lazy lulls
    to nudge and prompt,
    encourage and inspire
    my creativity and imagination…
And I pray you’ll make of my laziness, Lord,
a time to rest, recharge and recoup
so I’m ready to do what you ask of me…
But most of all, let me never be lazy
in praising you for all of your gifts,
in thanking you for your great mercy,
in serving you in all my neighbors
and in praying to you who are never slack
in loving and caring for me…

Protect me, Lord, while I’m awake
and watch over me while I sleep
that awake, I might keep watch with you
and asleep, rest in your peace…
There are just aren’t any hymns about laziness!
So, although tonight’s song is about being busy –
I think it fits well with our prayer…
Keep So Busy, Praising my Jesus!
Lord, I keep so busy praising my Jesus,
     ain’t got time to die!

‘Cause when I’m healing the sick,
     I’m praising my Jesus!

‘Cause it takes all of my time to praise my Jesus
    – if I don’t praise him the rocks gonna cry out,
« Glory and honor! » Ain’t got time to die!

Lord, I keep so busy working for the kingdom,
     ain’t got time to die!

‘Cause when I’m feeding the poor,
      ain’t got time to die!

‘Cause it takes all of my time to praise my Jesus
    – if I don’t praise him the rocks gonna cry out,
« Glory and honor! » Ain’t got time to die!

Lord, I keep so busy serving my Master,
     ain’t got time to die!

‘Cause when I’m giving my all,
     ain’t got time to die!

‘Cause it takes all of my time to praise my Jesus
    – if I don’t praise him the rocks gonna cry out,
« Glory and honor! » Ain’t got time to die!

Now, won’t you get out of my way!
     – if I don’t praise him the rocks gonna cry out,
« Glory and honor! » Ain’t got time to die!

Lord, I keep so busy praising my Jesus,
     ain’t got time to die!
