to forge ahead or fall behind…

between your word and my comfort…
I get to choose
to reach out or withdraw…
I get to choose
to be part of the problem or part of the solution…
I get to choose
to pay attention or zone out…
I get to choose
to love or to hate…
I get to choose
to forgive or condemn…
I get to choose
the real or the fake…
I get to choose
to be careful or careless…
I get to choose
between doubt and faith…
I get to choose
to help or ignore those around me…

to be selfish or selfless…

every day and all day long…
Help me to choose wisely,
out of love for you and my neighbor;
help me to choose as you’d choose, Lord,
help me choose life over death…
Protect me, Lord, while I’m awake
and watch over me while I sleep
that awake, I might keep watch with you
and asleep, rest in your peace…
