The ups and downs and twists and turns of life don’t even out just because it’s the Easter season… I know many folks, even a whole community, who are asking these days, « Lord, where are you? » – thus, tonight’s prayer. And if all’s going well for you right now, please offer this prayer for those who are having a difficult time…
I know so many people who wonder, Lord,
who wonder
where you are, where you’ve gone;
who wonder
if you’ve left us on our own;
who wonder
if you’ve abandoned or forgotten us…
So many people, Lord…
Yes, in our heart of hearts,
we know you’re always present
but sometimes it seems you’ve disappeared
and, then we wonder…
In our prayer we trust
you never leave us helpless
but sometimes it seems you’re just not listening
and, then we wonder…
In our faith we believe
you never turn away from us
but sometimes we simply cannot find you
and, then we wonder…
Encourage our hearts, then, Lord:
hear our prayer and deepen our faith
so that even when, sometimes,
we don’t know where you are
we’ll but wonder at your mystery
’til once again we find you,
– you who never leave our side…
Help us remember and never forget
that we are not alone,
that you are with us, Lord,
and we are never alone…
Protect us, Lord, while we’re awake
and watch over us when we sleep
that awake, we might keep watch with you
and asleep, rest in your peace…
