In my corner of the world we’ve had lots of rain – which I know is good for crops and lawns and gardens but… Well, I’ll pray that all this rain is good for me, too! Here’s the latest version of a prayer I’ve been tweaking over the years since I first posted it in 2008…
And if you live in a place that’s waiting for rain – here’s some background for your prayer tonight!
Like a hard, steady, streaming rain,
let your healing soak me, Lord:
your mercy, a heavy downpour,
your reign, a summer shower…
Soak me, drench me
– all but drown me!
Leave me dripping,
wet with moist anointings
of your freely given grace;
my toes and every inch of me
of your freely given grace;
my toes and every inch of me
refreshed and cleansed
in showers strong and bracing…
in showers strong and bracing…
Lift my face in joy
and refresh me with your rain, Lord;
let me drink it in and drink it down
let me drink it in and drink it down
’til my thirst for you is quenched
and from fountains of your glory…
Rain, rain, reign of God,
rain on me
and never, ever go away…
Protect me, Lord, while I’m awake
and watch over me while I sleep
that awake, I might keep watch with you
and asleep, rest in your peace…
