Chaos in the world, Lord,
chaos in the environment,
chaos in politics,
chaos in the culture…
I’m caught in a tempest
or lies and truth,
of right and wrong,
of hope and despair….
So little is as it was, Lord,
so much is clouded, forbidding:
it draws near, disappears, divides and unsettles,
it shivers the bones of my soul…
But in all of this you are my still point:
my center of calm, an oasis of peace;
your wisdom and word are my source for truth,
your grace and your presence my strength…
Empower me, Lord, to make my way
with integrity, virtue and candor;
to cut a clear path through the chaos,
to weather and ride out the tempest;
to go where your Spirit may lead me,
to act as my heart will direct me,
to speak what I know to be true…
With you at my side to guide me,
with your Spirit within to sustain me,
with your healing touch to make me whole,
I’ll walk with you, Lord my God…
