Pause for Prayer: TUESDAY 4/8

Pause for Prayer: TUESDAY 4/8

Just before going to bed last night,
I picked up my phone wondering,
« What’s my day look like tomorrow? »
Now that’s a question I’ve asked myself
thousands of times,
but last night, Lord, that old question
was followed by another: « My day? »
Whose day is today?
Who owns it?
To whom does it belong?
Today is a day that you’ve made, Lord
– not me…
Today is a day you’ve granted me
and at this point, Lord, at 78,
I count every day a gift,
a blessing.
one not to be taken for granted…
You’ve entrusted this day to me, Lord:
a day to be lived in accord with your word,
    a day to be loved and to love in return;
a day to be prayed while walking with you,
    a day to be shared with strangers and friends;
a day for receiving your blessings and gifts,
    a day for discovering all you might reveal;
a day to be treasured and cherished as grace,
    a day like no other will be or has been…
It’s your day, Lord!
Today is your day
    – on loan to me for 24 hours
Lord, help me make the best of your day!
Help me spend your day
    generously, selflessly, kindly…
Help me live your day
    mercifully, fully and wisely…
Help me share your day
    graciously, wisely and gently…
Help me live your day as you bid me live it
    for you are my way, my truth and my life…
