Pause for Prayer: TUESDAY 6/13

Technically, it’s not yet summer, Lord,
but if summer is a state of mind
        – or spirit, heart or soul –
               then summer’s here for me…
It’s in the light of longer days
    and the early morning birdsong
        just outside my bedroom window…
It’s in the very welcome sunshine
and the temps that make the climb
        from the 70s to 90…
It’s in the quiet of my prayer room
when the fresh air breezes in
and fans my heart in prayer…
It’s in what makes of me a child
    with a wish, a hope, a dream
        that summer’s joy won’t end…
Where this year will you lead me, Lord,
   what path will summer take?
What do you have in mind for me
    this June, July and August?
Even should I just stay at home,
where will you lead my heart?
What path to you will open wide,
    inviting me to follow?
What summertime surprises
will I meet along my way?
What challenges and hurdles
will you help me face and clear?
What blessings, peace and healing
do you have in store for me?
What mystery of your presence
will I find in summer’s touch?
How will we spend the summer, Lord,
    you and I together,
what will I make of these three months
    – what will you make of me?
Summertime’s already here!
I pray that it will be
a time to better know you, Lord,
and grow in all we share…
