Pause for Prayer: SUNDAY 2/25

Pause for Prayer: SUNDAY 2/25
This morning’s prayer is based on Romans 8:34-39,
the whole text is at the bottom of this post, after the song.
Not sure about this one, Lord…
Yes, I believe God is FOR us.
But right at the very same time
there’s a whole lot of folks AGAINST us
    – so there’s gotta be a catch here somewhere…
Ah, I think I see it!
No one was ever more FOR you
    than your Father was
but at the same time,
at a critical hour on one Friday afternoon,
the One who was totally FOR you
handed you over FOR us all
because you are forever FOR us
in your selfless mercy and love…
And thus, no one can charge us
for it’s God, our Judge, who acquits us…
Neither can any condemn us
for you, Lord, have suffered, died and risen
and stand FOR us before your Father,
    interceding on our behalf…
If God is for us,
    who can be against us?
No one, Lord, for your are our Savior,
    our Hope and Redeemer,
your Spirit our Advocate,
    counseling and guiding us
home to your Father, Creator of all,
our God, who’s FOR us forever…

When storms are gathering, when you feel afraid,
trust in the Lord, call upon on his name
then you will find him loving, strong and kind
guiding your steps, guiding your mind
If God is for us who can be against us,
draw close to him and feel his presence near,
this priceless treasure, love beyond all measure
promises peace, quiets our fears
If God is for us we are not forgotten,
he knows each need, hears our every prayer,
our hearts are grateful for the Lord is faithful
we are safe within his care
No opposition God cannot defeat
we are secure, fearless with his strength,
this calm assurance through our life endures,
in him we’re more than conquerors
If God is for  us who can be against us,
he gave his only Son our sins to bear
Sovereign Protector, God sent us a Savior,
we are safe within his care
Nothing below, nothing above
can separate us from his love
If God is for us we are not forgotten
he knows each need, hears our every prayer,
our hearts are grateful for the Lord is faithful,
we are safe within his care
we are safe, he holds us safe,
we are safe within God’s care,
safe within his care

Romans 8:31-39

Brothers and sisters: If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare his own Son but handed him over for us all, how will he not also give us everything else along with him?     Who will bring a charge against God’s chosen ones? It is God who acquits us.   Who will condemn? It is Christ Jesus who died, rather, was raised, who also is at the right hand of God, who indeed intercedes for us.     What will separate us from the love of Christ? Will anguish, or distress,  or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or the sword?    As it is written: “For your sake we are being slain all the day;     we are looked upon as sheep to be slaughtered.”   No, in all these things we conquer overwhelmingly through him who loved us.   For I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities,  nor present things, nor future things, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
