I’m not the only one on vacation, a friend is exploring the Pacific northwest and is posting photos that stir my heart to prayer… Spend a few moments with the image above before leaning into the text below…

No clouds or darkness in the ahead
can overpower the dawn, the approach,
the arrival, the glow of God’s light…
Nothing in my life
can diminish the
light of God’s Spirit
living within me…

Even if I find myself lost in the forest’s deep folds

where light divine seems only to shine
out there, up there, over there,
shining on others but not on me,
where glimpsing the light in the distance
hurts more than seeing no light at all
– even then –
the light shines in and through the woods at Shi Shi Beach
where long shadows trace their mystery
on the dew-damp forest floor…
And the light teases, moves and plays,
searching in the shadows:
a game of hide-and-seek with my soul…
Arms of light reach out
from some unknown and unseen source,
straining to embrace me
with the warmth my spirit cries for
and the hope I need, I crave…

Shafts of light green the carpet
soft beneath my step,

even in the patches
where day has yet to dawn…
And with spears of piercing glory
God’s light penetrates the forest
and the shadows folded deep
within my slowly waking heart…
No darkness in the day ahead
can overpower the dawn,
the brightness of God’s light
within my soul…
A light divine has shone on me
and in its brilliance
is my peace…

Amen.
